The Story of Eco Everyday Laundry Soap

I was sitting in a Quaker worship service in Mount Madonna, California when a young man stood to give a message that seemed a bit fluffy at the time: "How can we be 'peacemakers' and drive cars?"

I thought that was pretty strange. But in the moments and years that followed, I got what he meant.

I say that I believe in fuzzy ideas like peace, equality, love and justice, but when I looked at my mundane purchases and daily activities--I saw that I was engaging in practices that created systems of quite the opposite. I began to follow back the supply chain of my daily goods-- where they came from and where they would go once I was finished with them. I grew deeply distressed with what I found: large carbon footprints, exploitative labor and cancer-causing chemicals at every turn.

During this time, I was passed a recipe for eco-friendly laundry detergent. I began experimenting with variations and gave it away for Christmas in 2003.

My friends and family were amazed. It took less than half of what they were used to needing for their washing machines, had no toxic chemicals, and IT WORKED...really well.

I eventually opened a store in my hometown that featured only honestly made, eco-friendly goods. Sadly, it was nearly impossible to compete in the current market though and we closed. The demand for my laundry detergent never let up though...
